Charlotte, Nc: Myers Park

One of my favorite families of all times!  They are not only great to photograph,  but they are super fun to be around!  When I worked for Disney, we used to call the girls “princesses” and the boys “captains”.  I still catch myself calling the kids at my sessions those names.  In this case the names couldn’t fit better.   Princess Bell and Captain Jack.  And yes she not only thinks she is a princess, but has all the qualities – only the good ones – of a royal.  You can’t take your eyes off Belle for one.  She has the glow!  And Jack is just a charm.  Doesn’t talk much, but when he does everyone pays attention.  Perfect for a captain.  So here are some of their pics.  Sail away.

It’s OK to buy flowers to make yourself happy

I found this picture yesterday.  Made me smile, and remember not only the above sentence by my 5 year old, but that I should SLOW down.  I think I am pretty good at  the “stop and smell the roses” thing, but I should do it more OFTEN and LONGER.

We were entering the grocery store, and my intention was to run trough quickly and be done with it.  Her plan was different.  She noticed the  beautiful flowers.  I have to add that we usually go and look at them, so it wasn’t that out of ordinary.  This time she couldn’t have enough of the stunning bouquets.  Wouldn’t leave.  Kept touching them, and smelling them, and just had a great time being around them.  So I let it happen, and tried very hard not to rush her/us.  After  - that seemed  like a long time to me –  she looked at me and  said: ” I think we should buy these!”   Since Valentine’s Day was just around the corner, and having 3 girls in the house I knew my husband was going to spoil us with a ton of flower in the next couple of days, so I said NO and explained why.  She thought of it for a moment and said: ” I still think we should buy this for ourself.  It’s OK to buy flowers to make yourself happy”.

So we did just that.  We went home,  took our time to find the right vase, and when we were done, we sat down at the table we placed them on, and we just sat looking at our beautiful flowers.  We were happy.

Fun at the Matthews, NC Farmers Market

When I first met Annalise I thought she might be shy.  She seemed quiet. Maybe because I kept staring at her so intensely. I try not to be very obvious when I try to get to know my clients features but I couldn’t stop thinking while looking at her: Wow what a natural beauty!  She surprised me with her very outgoing, talkative, super bright and very funny personality. She was a blast to photograph. A ray of sunshine on the chilly morning.

Keeping my promise

I took these pictures of Coco last year. What can I say? She was as refreshing as the early morning we took these photos on. So bright and full of questions like:  What are you going to do with my pictures Miss Pearl? After the not-so-much-fun-answers, I told her that I will put them on my website. She loved that one and I got a big smile captured forever on one of these:
